Hybrid concentrated radiative cooling and solar heating in a single system

Radiative cooling is an emerging sustainable technology that does not require electricity to function. However, realize sub-ambient cooling, the effects of undesired incident solar energy must be minimized. Considering ideal blackbody radiator at 300 K, maximum power density ?160 W/m 2 . Here, we report architecture capable overcoming this challenge by using two spectrally selective mirrors simultaneously absorb sunlight and re-direct thermal emission from a vertically aligned emitter. With configuration, both sides vertical emitter can used together measured local over 270 in controlled laboratory environment. Under standard atmospheric pressure, realized was 14°C below ambient temperature environment more than 12°C reduction outdoor testing.
